Are you thinking about building a new home in the the Greater Madison area. Are you currently in the middle of the New Construction process? We’re finding issues with Passive Radon Mitigation System piping in many new homes.
Have you hear the term “Passive Radon Mitigation System”? Here’s our definition at Radon Solutions of Wisconsin…
Passive Mitigation Systems are typically installed at the time the home was constructed and has two elements:
Here in Madison and throughout the Southwest Wisconsin many people with newer homes have begun installing Passive Radon piping during construction. This can be very beneficial at times as the installer can hide the piping within the walls….and can also save some money…if installed correctly.
THE PROBLEM:
Spacing…a very common issue we come across when reviewing other peoples pipe installation work. Unfortunately many Radon Mitigation System Installers don’t leave enough extra space in the vent and at that point the system needs to be converted to Active Mitigation. In addition, be aware that the state of Wisconsin doesn’t require that Radon Contractors be Certified so that also leads to less than average work.
Please take a look at the images below, this Passive System had inadequate pitch for drainage….and was vented without enough space for a conversion into an Active System. It’s important to call the best and a Certified Radon Contractor when dealing with Radon Gas. Our team is Certified and diligent about maintaining the required continuing education to provide our customers with the best possible Radon specific advice, equipment, and mitigation installation solutions.
