This home is located in Madison, Wisconsin and required a complete overhaul with replacement Comfort Smart Windows. The previous windows were dual pane and lacked efficiency, along with seals that looked like they didn't last beyond the first couple of years from the original install.

It's very important to ask your Contractor/Sales Associate about the quality of the windows they're suggesting. First and foremost, ask about the window's U-Factor. Not familiar with what U-Factor means? It's OK, we're here to help. It directly relates to how well the Window Insulates but here's the full definition:

U-Factor measures the rate of heat transfer and tells you how well the window insulates. U-factor values generally range from 0.25 to 1.25 and are measured in Btu/h·ft²·°F. The lower the U-factor, the better the window insulates. (EPA requires that the U-Factor for ENERGY STAR labeled products is certified and listed on the product label.)

This home owner went with a window that has a .16 U-Factor, triple pane, and high efficiency throughout  multiple levels of the house. In total, Dan's Exteriors replaced 10 windows and 4 exterior doors. Every project is different and can create curveballs so it's especially important that you hire and licensed and insured contractor that can foresee these potential surprises.

For example, this project required an external lift and even internal scaffolding to complete the project. These scenarios were well planned for though and the project turned out fantastic and on time.
